The maps of Taisho period (1912 – 1926) already show the Mikuni-ya Souyu (soy sauce) shop, with a rear irimoya (入母屋) building facing the main street. The front has been changed into a hirairi (平入り), but as a nagaya (長屋), together with the Traditional House of Kawada Family, it is a valuable part of the preservation area.

大正期の絵図によると、三国屋醤油屋があり、通りに対して入母屋形式の珍しい建物であった。今日では平入りに改築されているが、長屋建物として河田家住宅と続く貴重な建物群である。
