Built on the premises of the former Tsuwano domain Chief Retainer’s mansion in 1927, the building funcioned as a silk processing factory until 1974. From the 1970s they started to play an important role in the developing of the local tourism industry.
The earthen wall store house (called Shou-in-tei) and the central garden surrounded by the house is a representative of the Meiji period (1868-1912) architecture in Tsuwano.
Saranoki shop is currently using the building.

田中家店舗兼住宅（沙羅の木）
旧藩時代の家老屋敷跡に建つ建物。昭和２年(1927)から昭和４９年（1974）まで絹布工場として、その後は観光業として津和野の発展に寄与している。明治中期の津和野を代表する建築で、土蔵(松韻亭)と主邸に囲まれた庭園もすばらしい。
